  • Good to Know: Some roads can turn to mud after heavy showers — a 4x4 handles this easily.

The plains around Ndutu stay busy with wildlife into March, and the arriving rains bring a burst of green that makes for striking photography against the dry-season browns of the preceding weeks.

  • What: A final reliable stretch before the long rains set in.
  • Why: Conditions are usually still climbable, though less predictable than January–February.
  • When to Book: Book early in the month for the best chance of stable weather.
  • Good to Know: Check route conditions close to your date — this is a transitional month.

Early March can still offer good Kilimanjaro conditions, though the odds of rain increase as the month goes on — most climbers aiming for this window book the first half of March.
