Serval Wildlife

Not every wildlife experience in Tanzania happens inside a national park. In the foothills of Kilimanjaro, Serval offers a closer, more intimate way to meet African wildlife.

The Story

Wildlife. Up close. Different.

A traditional safari shows you wildlife across vast natural landscapes, and it is extraordinary. Serval Wildlife offers something different: a managed, naturalistic environment where you can observe selected African species at much closer range than is typical on a game drive. There are no hours spent searching, no distance between you and the details. The experience is about connection.

There is also a story behind it. Tanzania’s wildlife authorities oversee wildlife kept in captive facilities, including wildlife farms, ranches, zoos and sanctuaries, and Serval’s conservation story includes work with those authorities around rescued and orphaned animals. You are not only seeing wildlife, you are learning about the journey that brought each animal here.

Set in the Kilimanjaro area, between the shadows of Kilimanjaro and Meru, it is easy to slot into a wider northern Tanzania trip. It works for families, first-time visitors, photographers and anyone short on time, and it shows that Tanzania’s wildlife story is much broader than the famous safari circuit.

What You Can Experience

Make the destination the adventure.

Every experience can be shaped around your pace, interests and the rest of your Tanzania journey.

Move through the grounds on foot rather than from a vehicle seat.

04

Plan It Well

Insider advice.

How to fit it in

A half-day addition around Moshi and Arusha. It suits families, first-time visitors, short-stay travellers, Kilimanjaro travellers and photography lovers, and pairs well with the more natural experiences in this collection.

Tips from the ground
  • Animal collection and visitor programme can change, so confirm what is available for your date.
  • Bring a camera, sun protection and water; you will be on foot outdoors.
  • Great before or after a Kilimanjaro climb or as a gentle first-day activity for families and children.
Pairs well with

Kilimanjaro, Moshi, Arusha, or as an introduction before heading into Tanzania’s national parks.
